Thank you for writing this piece. This ties together the silencing on both racism and other crimes against First Nations people but also the genocidal war on Palestinian people. You are so impressive the way you get this together so well ( I know you are not seeking complements). I hope that many people read this.

Thank you for your insightful words. I apologise for the comments by my fellow settlers. I don’t think white people are going to be able to grow until they understand what racism is, the structures set up in our society to oppress First Nations. What a bleak time. Again thank you for writing, educating, rising.

Such a joy to read a bang on the money such a truthful voice. The unconscious level of racism that exists is hidden behind ‘humour or the good Australian spirit’. So not funny anymore. It’s time for Australia to grow up and face the reality that exists here.

The problem with these kinds of articles is that they view issues only from the prism of one lense - "racism". This myopic viewpoint is what is going to hurt the liberal left in the long run.

Could it be that people voted no for actually reasons other than "racism"? Maybe putting a bunch of unelected officials from on the government payroll to have 0 legal authority to suggest decisions is objectively a bad idea? Maybe giving some Australian more rights than others is objectively a bad idea?

Secondly, the confusion between Palestine and aboriginal rights is disingenuous at best. Western Sydney which has the highest rate of Muslim population (and by extension support of Palestine) had the some of the highest rate of voting "No" in the referendum in the country. If you are suggesting that the Palestinian cause and the indigenous causes are the same then I'm afraid the hard cold data proves you are wrong.

A beautifully written piece. It's so enraging and heartbreaking. You deserve so much better.

Not everything is about Aboriginals and not black and white. Nuance is lost. The majority voted because we were voting for giving representation to 3% without being represented ourselves. Elections with “preferential voting” is mathematically proven scam. 97% are inconsequential and jealous of your aboriginal cause being taken so seriously.

Thank you, the two really felt so deeply connected, and I saw the video of settlers enjoying their running water... something felt so similar - the normalisation of dehumanisation.

apparently the UTS in sydney has created a report that the American "Atlas" group, a right wing libertarian group, fund the no campaign. These people are funded by the Koch brothers and other super rich. These groups have a voice themselves, lobby groups

Ahh yes the typical we lost and have no logical arguements so we'll call you names tactics. It seems to be a centre piece of the woke left.

Then with your absolute word dribble not state one instance of racism. Australia is the least racist country in the world by far, and just because you dont get you way, doesnt make the Australians racist.

Abos are no less disadvantaged then any other Australian, so stop virtue signalling and if you truly want to help them push for a commission into Aboriginal spending cause by god if we push the amount of money we give them anywhere else it would make a difference. But for some reason it just seem for want of a better word a black hole.
